The Minnesota Harvest Horse Show celebrates the hunter with Friday night’s featured event, the Purina Hunter Spectacular. This class is like a “Grand Prix” for show hunters requiring classic horsemanship skills paired with the beauty and presence of the hunter. The class traces its roots to the tradition of hunter competition with a course comprised of natural obstacles similar to what a rider would encounter on the hunt field. Look for natural looking, festively decorated jumps, well turned out and immaculately groomed horses, and formally attired riders. The course presents technical challenges and options for the horse and rider teams. The Purina Hunter Spectacular is judged on the quality of the performance and the horse’s way of going with an emphasis on style, brilliance and handiness.
